Peacefully Coexisting with Coyotes in Rollingwood

Dear Rollingwood,

There have been numerous posts and emails regarding a recent flurry of coyote sightings and encounters in Rollingwood. The City of Rollingwood practices an attitude of tolerance for and co-existence with coyotes, with an emphasis on education, awareness and humane, non-lethal conflict management. Other techniques are costly and essentially non-effective, with a less than 20% rate of success. There is excellent literature available on peacefully coexisting with coyotes on, http://www.austintexas.gov/department/co.... The substance of the literature reminds us to remain aware when our children are outside, remove any kind of food from outside in a timely manner, bring in our small pets, and to practice hazing (scaring) techniques, should we encounter coyotes.

For more information or questions, please feel free to contact me at City Hall, by phone at, 512-327-1838, or by email at, administrator@cityofrollingwood.com.

Please stay safe and aware!
